- Second grade uses the Four Blocks Literacy Model to teach reading, writing, working with words, and self-selected reading.
- Saxon Math introduces new concepts in small pieces that are reviewed and assessed throughout the year.
- In science the main themes are: Space, Objects in the Sky, Forces of Nature, Objects in Motion, and Earth's Resources.
- In Social Studies children learn about basic Geography and American History; and they learn to compare and contrast cultures. We visit the Stuhr Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the Native Americans from the Plains.
- Second grade students also study Art, Music, and Physical Education. They have Music and P.E. twice a week and Art, Computers, Guidance, and Library once a week.
